We�re hoping that, if all goes well, the building work and plastering will be repaired during the near future.
Before the interior plastering can be repaired we must first have repairs to the external pointing on the roof.
You will have noticed the area of internal plaster, that was removed last year, and on doing so it exposed deterioration in the external stonework.
We then had to wait to see how things dried out before we could decide how best to go forward.
The next step is to seek advice from suitably experienced builders who can determine the extent of the problem, and then advise on the most appropriate way forward.
Like all churches, any decisions will be based on how much it will cost to rectify the stonework and to what extent we can best achieve stabilisation of the problem.
As any parish church, we are responsible for our own upkeep and any cost must be born by those who give to the village church.
We often speak to people who think that there is some sort of national church funding we can dip into on occasions such as this. The fact is that there isn�t, and the costs of any structural repairs must be met from St. John�s existing funds or by donation by its parishioners.
Once we are able, a number of us will set to work redecorating the interior so it will regain the well kept appearance we�ve grown used to seeing
