Junior chorister, Gemma Fox, has recently been successful in gaining the Royal School of Church Music's Bishop of Blackburn's Silver Level Award, passing with Merit. The exam involved solo singing, musical theory and knowledge of church music in context. Along with another junior member, Emma Moore, Gemma won the RSCM's Dean of Blackburn's Bronze Level Award, last year. Both girls attend St. Christopher's CE High School.
Also due to receive awards, at the Cathedral, next February, are three other youngsters, lona Shaw, Katie Fox, Nicole Taimer, together with Gemma and Emma. This will be the Archdeacon's Award for long (minimum four years) and faithful service to the choir.
Adult member, Elsie Craven, will receive a similar award for having served in church choirs for more than forty years. |
